POETRY INTO PRINT with Michael Henry and Tricia Torrington
September 12th-15th 2016 Near Pitlochry, Scotland.
This four-day course combines creative writing with printmaking. Poet Michael Henry and poet /printmaker Tricia Torrington provide truly inspirational exercises and then show you how to translate the results in to printed work. It doesn’t matter if you have never written before, you can produce exciting text – but there will also be the opportunity to help edit and improve existing work if you wish.
Over the four days of the course the artworks you create will be unique, with the option to make 2D and 3D pieces, from artists books to more sculptural pieces where the text becomes part of the artwork itself. Tricia will take you through textural printmaking processes that can be done both with and without a press.
Further information is available. All materials are provided. Students can bring previously written or sketched pieces to work from if they have them available. Suitable for beginners as well as experienced printmakers who want to try new techniques in their work.
Michael Henry has 5 collections of poetry; 4 with Enitharmon Press and the latest – ‘Bureau of the Lost and Found’ – with Five Seasons Press. He has taught languages and creative writing throughout his working life. Tricia Torrington is both a writer and printmaker. She has one collection published by Flarestack, ‘The Opium Fish’, recently reprinted by Griffin Press.
